Meghan Agosta & Marco Marciano

I have always wondered who I was going to spend the rest of my life with. How old would I be when I got engaged and what special qualities would my future husband have. The year 2010 was a special year for both Marco and me. Meeting and getting to know each other was the first big step. Being able to experience the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver together and now being able to share those memories is something that we both will never forget.

Since Marco is from Quebec, I wanted to spend a few days in Montreal with him and his parents before we both flew back to Windsor to spend Christmas with my family and friends. It was hard leaving his parents because we could not be together for Christmas like family should be. Christmas Eve arrived quickly, and on December 24th, 2010, my life changed!

As we were all gathered around the table talking about things, the doorbell rang. I walked to the door and opened it, Marco's parents were standing on our front porch! All the way from Montreal! "Merry Christmas", they said "Surprise"! Marco and I were shocked and couldn't believe it. We all had dinner together and then went into the living room to sit and talk. Later on that night, Marco wanted me to open an early Christmas gift. I looked at him, smiled, and said "No, it's not Christmas yet". But I opened it anyway.

Everyone watched as I opened this nicely wrapped gift. I pulled a bear out of a box. The bear was holding a little red bag, and in the bag were two lucky gold chocolates and another white and gold box. As I pulled out that box, I could never have imagined ... it was the ring of my dreams!. I fell into Marco's arms and started to cry! The love of my life got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! With tears of joy streaming down my face, I said "YES"!

My dream came true. I will be spending the rest of my life with the most amazing guy in the world! What is so special about this ring is that Marco purchased it from Wharram's Jewellery in my hometown Leamington, Ontario. He bought it there so that I would always remember my roots. As a matter of fact, Marco chose a Canadian diamond! How appropriate in the year of the Canadian Olympics!

December 24th ... with both families together, the ring of my dreams, the man of my dreams ... will always be a special day!

After the excitement settled, Marco told me that he had a bet going with Wayne Wharram, and that he had just lost the bet. At the beginning of last summer, when Marco had completed the ring purchase, Wayne told him he wouldn't be able to wait until the following summer to ask me to marry him. Marco initially had intended asking me after the World's. Marco might have lost the bet, but he won my heart forever!!!
